Wells

Access to a reliable source of clean water is one of the most fundamental needs for any family, school, and health center — yet for many rural Cambodians, it remains out of reach. As many as one third of Cambodians still use water from an unimproved source, and access to clean water provides an important pathway to better health, regular school attendance, and an improved quality of life for families.

As part of our comprehensive WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) approach, Water For Cambodia constructs both ring wells and bore wells in communities where groundwater access is the most practical solution. By the end of 2025, we had built over 40 wells across rural communities — giving families, schools, and health centers a dependable, clean water source right where they need it most, eliminating the need to travel long distances or rely on unsafe surface water.

Each well is built to last, serving not only drinking and cooking needs but also supporting basic hygiene and sanitation for the whole community. Together with our biosand filters, latrines, and hygiene education programs, every well we build is another step toward making clean water a reality — not a luxury — for the people of Cambodia.
